  • How long will it take to see results?
    Recovery timelines vary based on your specific condition, previous activity level, age and goals. During your initial 75-minute evaluation, we'll create a clear treatment plan with achievable milestones. Many clients report noticeable improvements in movement and pain levels within the first few sessions.
  • What makes dry needling so effective?
    Dry needling targets specific trigger points in muscles to release tension and promote healing. It's particularly effective for both acute and chronic pain, making it valuable for athletes and active individuals alike. Most clients experience immediate improvement in pain and mobility after treatment.
  • Where are you located in Austin?
    The Grappler’s PT & Pilates is located in suite 214 at Casa De Luz East - a wellness center that also offers vegan cuisine at the restaurant. Address is 1915 E. Martin Luther King Blvd, Austin, TX 78702
  • What are your hours?
    Tuesday - Friday: 9 AM to 7 PM Saturday: 12 PM to 4 PM Exceptions to the schedule may be made on a case-by-case basis.
  • How do I schedule an appointment?
    You can book directly through our online scheduling system, call us at 512-693-7505, or email info@thegrapplerspt.com.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    We require 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows are subject to a fee.
  • Do you take insurance?
    I can provide documentation for you to submit to your insurance company or HSA for possible partial reimbursement. If you choose to do this, the insurance company requires a doctor’s referral. If not using insurance, no referral or insurance information is required.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    We accept all major credit cards, cash, and digital payments through Venmo, CashApp, and Chime.
  • Do you offer payment plans?
    Yes, we can discuss payment plan options for larger treatment packages.

    As a middle-aged PT and competitive athlete, I understand the demands of maintaining an active lifestyle. My approach combines traditional physical therapy with advanced techniques like dry needling and blood flow restriction training, plus authentic Pilates, creating a comprehensive system for both injury recovery and performance enhancement.   • Do I need a doctor's referral to see you?
    No, Texas is a direct access state. You can schedule an appointment directly without a referral. However, if you plan to use insurance, your provider may require a referral for coverage.
  • Where can I get a referral?
    Any medical doctor, chiropractor or even your dentist can write a physical therapy referral for you.
  • What should I expect during my first visit?

    All Physical Therapy Sessions: 75 minutes Dry Needling only: 20 minutes Pilates Sessions: 55 minutes
  • Can I maintain my training/exercise routine while receiving treatment?
    This depends on your injury and recovery stage. We'll work together to create a plan that maintains your activity level without a significant setback by modifying intensity and volume as needed. Whether you're preparing for a BJJ competition or wanting to stay active in your favorite physical activities, we'll find the right balance for you.
  • How does Blood Flow Restriction Training work?
    BFR is an innovative technique that partially restricts blood flow to a limb during exercise, allowing you to build strength without stressing the tissues involved in your injury. This allows you to begin the strengthening phase sooner in your rehab in order to return to your regular activities sooner. It also prevents muscle wasting/atrophy which can lead to another cascade of issues. This is perfect for both athletes and active individuals looking to maintain strength safely.
  • What is Pilates?
    The authentic Pilates method was developed by a German boxer named Joseph Pilates in the 1940’s. His goal was to achieve optimal health, athletic longevity and physicality into old age. He invented regimens based on gymnastics moves as well as various pieces of apparatus to help improve posture and optimize core strength and mobility for everyday activities, human movement, lifting and all types of sports.
  • How can Pilates benefit my athletic performance and overall health?
    Authentic Pilates develops dynamic core strength and full-body mobility that benefits everyone, from competitive athletes to those pursuing an active lifestyle. It involves full body movements coordinated with your breath. It also helps you learn to breathe optimally which enhances overall health and performance. During our 55-minute sessions, you'll work on: Dynamic core strengthening and coordination Increasing spine, shoulder and hip mobility Strengthening joints in all three planes Dynamic stabilization of all major joints in your new-found range of motion Long-term mobility and flexibility

    Posture affects a number of activities and functions. To name a few, optimal posture leads to enhanced: 1. Breathing for oxygen transport to muscles and physiological health. 2. Integrity of soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and fascial lines for improved overall movement for daily activities and sports. 4.
